L o que hago es pintura charapa. Así como en la Amazonía peruana tenemos un hablar propio donde se mezcla el castellano con algunas palabras quechuas, otras de origen kukama-kukamiria, bora, huitoto o shipibo-conibo, en un modo que se dicen casi cantando; de la misma manera, mi obra junta modos occidentales de pintura con ideas, sueños, mitos y costumbres de los pueblos de la selva, con una visualidad estridente, casi sonora y musical. Enmis pinturas siempre hay una cita o reinterpretación de la obra de otro artista amazónico, ya sea reconocido o anónimo, urbano o indígena, histórico o contemporáneo. Considero importante hacer que el Perú reconozca la historia de esta región, su legado artístico y su contemporaneidad para que pueda asumirse como un país amazónico. Yo soy charapa y no puedo concebir el mundo sin la Amazonía, y el mundo no puede subsistir sin ella”. “What I do is Charapa painting.
