M i trabajo esencialmente viene del cómic. En los 70 fui parte de su época de plata, tuve la suerte de llegar a crecer en sitios repletos de cómics y dibujos, paredes en kioskos y mercados, la variedad era notable. Los viajes que hiciera con mi padre y hermano hacia el norte me llevaron a vivir pensando en un país hecho cómic, hecho historieta. Con el tiempo, quise ver mi versión de nuestra cultura e historia y ahí nació la idea de dedicarme con cierta preocupación a los retratos, que con el tiempo son quizás la parte más importantes de mi gráfica coleccionable. Creo que soy grafista sobre todo, para mí es tan importante dibujar como diseñar, hacer cómic, humor gráfico, lápices, acrílicos, pintar en un lienzo o pintar en una plataforma. No creo en los límites en ningún tipo de mundo. Por el momento aprovecho tener la paciencia y fuerzas para seguir usando una computadora y hacer vectores horas tras horas, pero quién sabe, algún día tal vez pueda dejar de tenerlos como soporte principal. Una foto no dice necesariamente lo que conlleva un dibujo, una ilustración... y es precisamente ese límite en donde nos encontramos”. “My work essentially comes from comics. In the seventies I was part of their silver age, I was lucky of growing up around places full of comics and drawings, stacks at kiosks and markets, the variety was considerable. The trips north I took with my father and brother led me to live thinking in a country turned a comic strip. Over time, I wanted to see my version of our culture and history, and thus the idea of somehow worryingly dedicating myself to portraits, which over time are perhaps the most important part of my collectable graphics. I believe I am a graphic designer above all, for me it is as important as designing, drawing comics, graphic humor, pencils, acrylics, painting on a canvas, or on a platform. I do not believe in limits in any kind of world, for the moment I take advantage having patience and the strength to keep using a computer and make vectors for hours, but who knows, one day I might stop having them as main support. A photograph does not necessarily say what a drawing or illustration implies… and that is precisely the limit we are at”.
